FAQ
Questions, answered
Everything worth knowing before eclipse day: safety, certification, the 2026 path, and how to make your order arrive in time.
Are Helioclipse eclipse glasses really safe?
Yes. Every pair is tested to ISO 12312-2:2015, the international standard for direct solar viewing, and blocks more than 99.999% of visible light along with 100% of harmful UV and IR. We publish our compliance documentation openly so parents, teachers and procurement teams can verify it before they buy.
When and where is the 2026 total solar eclipse?
August 12, 2026. The Moon's shadow crosses eastern Greenland, western Iceland, and northern Spain and Portugal, with a maximum totality of about 2 minutes 18 seconds. Most of Europe, northern Africa and eastern North America will see at least a partial eclipse, and every phase outside totality still requires ISO-certified glasses.
Do eclipse glasses expire?
As a precaution, we advise retiring each pair three years after you received them, even if the filter still looks perfect. Before every eclipse, hold each pair up to a bright indoor lamp and inspect it carefully: if the lenses show scratches, pinholes, creases or tears, or if you can see anything besides the very brightest light through them, replace the pair immediately.
Can I just use regular sunglasses or welding goggles?
No. Even the darkest sunglasses transmit thousands of times too much light and do not block infrared radiation. Only ISO 12312-2 solar filters (or shade #14 welding glass) are safe for direct viewing of the Sun outside the brief moments of totality.
Do I have to wear them during totality?
Only during the brief window when the Moon completely covers the Sun, and only if you are standing inside the narrow path of totality, is it safe to look with the naked eye. The instant a sliver of Sun returns, put the glasses back on. Everywhere outside the path of totality, keep them on for the entire eclipse.
Are eclipse glasses safe for children?
Yes. Our glasses are family-friendly and widely used in schools and planetariums. Keep young children supervised so the frame stays flat against the face and they never peek around the edges. Our individually wrapped packs make clean, hygienic hand-out at events and classrooms simple.
Can I take photos of the eclipse with my phone?
Yes. Every order includes a solar camera filter. Place it over your phone's rear lens during the partial phases to capture the crescent Sun without damaging the sensor. Remove the filter only if you are inside the path of totality, and strictly during totality itself.
Will my order arrive before the eclipse?
We ship from EU and North American warehouses with free 2-day delivery on in-stock orders. Stock and carrier capacity tighten as eclipse week approaches, so most customers order at least two to three weeks ahead to leave room for travel, schools, or event hand-outs.
